Leaves everywhere

The children have to collect as many leaves as they can. The one with the highest number of leaves is the winner.
After collecting the leaves; we observed how the children counted their leaves. Most of them counted one-by-one but two of them decided to arrange the leaves. One of them grouped the leaves in group of tens (clever ler...good idea)

After counting the leaves; one child asked "Why are all the leaves brown?" So, I gave them the challenge to find a green on the ground. They shook the tree and looked for green leaves on the ground but cannot be found. We discussed about leaves' ageing and changing colours.
